Prof Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has stated that the assassination of Hon Okey Okoye, a member of the State House of Assembly, was intended to test his resolve.
However, Soludo declared in a post on his verified Facebook account that the killers will never go unpunished.
Last weekend, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, also known as Okey d Okay, a member of the Aguata II State constituency, and his aide, Cyril Chiegboka, were kidnapped, murdered, and beheaded.
"No human being should ever have to endure death in that way," Soludo wrote in the article. Rampaging villains have chosen to defile our land with the blood of the innocent for no cause.
"This is a test of our determination, and we are more emboldened than frightened that this criminality must be eradicated from our land." The party is gone, and everyone in our communities must prepare to join forces with the government in this war to recapture our homeland.
"Okey and Cyril's deaths will not be in vain. The folks of Isuofia and nd Anambra, may God console their young families. May their souls, as well as the souls of all others who have died at the hands of these criminals, rest in peace," he said.
The governor had previously announced that a ten million N10,000,000 bounty had been placed on the heads of the killers for anyone with relevant information.
