When Boko Haram forces clashed with members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) wing of the terrorists, six insurgents were reportedly killed.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, revealed this in a series of tweets on Monday.
Since both factions split over leadership difficulties, the competing gangs have been attacking localities in the North-East.
Since then, the organisations have clashed, with Abubakar Shekau, the head of Boko Haram, supposedly being killed in one of them in 2021.
According to Makama, Boko Haram militants attacked a convoy of ISWAP terrorists between the Kaffa and Litawa axes in Damboa Local Government Area on the night of Sunday, May 22.
"In about 0700 hours, ISWAP rebels on six gun trucks and three motorcycles arrived at the Kaffa axis to evacuate the deceased bodies, then proceeded to the Wajiroko axis," he claimed.
"The infighting and fierce rivalry between the two terrorist factions had escalated, with both groups looking for any opportunity to kill each other."
