Nigeria will overcome its security difficulties in two years, according to Obasanjo, if the president was willing to make harsh decisions.
Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria, has remarked that the country needs a leader who is driven by passion and "a bit of lunacy" to bring it forward.
Obasanjo made the remarks while hosting Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
Former Minister Godswill Akpabio, who is running for President on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, was also a guest of the former President.
According to PUNCH, Hayatu-Deen and his colleagues arrived in Ogun State at 12:30 p.m. and immediately proceeded into a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo, which lasted around an hour.
According to reports, Akpabio arrived about 2:20 p.m., just as the Hayatu-Deen team was leaving Obasanjo's apartment.
During the visits, Obasanjo stated that Nigeria will solve its security difficulties in two years provided the president was willing to make difficult decisions, while also warning Nigerians to prepare for sacrifices.
"Obviously, it is an agonizing situation for you, as well as for me," the former president stated. I'd like to emphasize that the Nigerian situation, as horrible as it is, would only be improved by Nigerians at the helm of affairs. As a result, Nigerians must prepare to do whatever it takes to get the country back on track.
"And you are correct in saying that one of the things you hear now, wherever you go, is that Nigeria is not on the table, but why shouldn't Nigeria be on the table?" What does being on the table cost Nigeria?
"I'm going to say four things that I was reminded of this morning. The first is knowledge. The second point is vision; what is our vision? You may have eyes, but you are blind if you don't have vision. And I feel that is a factor in our predicament.
"The passion is the third. And when you said you are interested in this with a passion, and I was telling some people this morning that passion means craziness, that you are insane about Nigeria, I am, and I make no apologies for it because I have no other country I can call my home or go to and say yeah, I have come to live here.
