The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has declared that contracts given before December 31, 2019, have been cancelled since the contractors failed to be on site.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Dr Ibitoye Abosede, the NDDC's Director of Corporate Affairs.
Abosede ordered the impacted contractors to return the funds to the commission's CBN account.
"As a result, all impacted contractors are urged to notice that all payments previously received by way of mobilisation for any of the projects are to be promptly repaid," the statement said.
"The contractors must return the funds to the commission's CBN account.
"This is to bring the implementation of the forensic audit report to the attention of all NDDC contractors, as well as stakeholders and the general public."
"The cancellation is also in accordance with the conditions of the project award contracts."
This comes less than a week after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Nsima Ekere, a former Managing Director of the NDDC, for allegedly diverting monies worth N47 billion through the agency's authorised contractors.
