Motorcyclists and passengers who flout the new Okada prohibition will be detained and punished, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
The Lagos State Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this in a tweet on Saturday.
"Passengers and riders alike would be detained and prosecuted under the new absolute ban on motorcycles in six local government districts of Lagos State."
"The passenger is a co-conspirator." Ignorance is not an acceptable excuse!" Hundeyin used Twitter.
On Wednesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu issued a new outright ban on Okada riders' operations in six Local Government Areas.
Ikeja, Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Surulere, and Lagos Mainland are the areas involved.
Effective June 1, Sanwo-Olu asked security operatives in the state to enforce the proscription order across the specified councils.
