Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has described the next season as "awful."
Gerrard spoke to Sky Sports after Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Burnley in their final home encounter of the season.
Despite a celebratory lap around Villa Park on Thursday, the former England midfielder has warned that they cannot replicate their 14th-place finish.
"This club will not finish 14th in the future." We need to make some adjustments in order to return stronger and better next season.
"The first order of business was to stay safe, but we wanted to finish second." As we move forward, we must improve in many areas. "We need to improve our recruiting," Gerrard said.
Villa travel to Manchester City on the final day of the season, and Gerrard has claimed that "we'll try and make it as difficult as we can for them." For whatever we have, we will fight to the death.
