Prince Adebayo Adesanmi, Director, Medical Laboratory Services, Ekiti State Hospital Management Board, has been appointed as the new Ologotun of Ogotun Ekiti in the Ekiti South West Local Government area by the Ekiti State Government.
Adesanmi of the Ojopekun Ruling House, who was elected Ologotun-elect in March after defeating five other candidates, will take up the seat that has been empty since September 2021.
The State Executive Council also accepted the nomination of Prince Ojo Idowu from the Ikumoluyi Ruling House as the new Alaaye of Aaye-Ekiti in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area, according to Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Akin Omole.
"The approval was part of the decisions taken at the virtual meeting of the Council after confirming that all required customary and legal measures had been done to choose the new traditional rulers," Omole said in a statement titled "Ekiti State EXCO authorises appointment of new traditional rulers."
"After receiving authorization from the Ministry of Justice, the appointments were approved. It was in accordance with the requirements of Ekiti State's Chiefs Law (2012), Cap C5.
"The Council also authorised the state official gazette to publish legal notices of the appointments."
Following the death of Oba Adedapo Oyebade, the Ologotun's throne went vacant on September 29, 2021, while the Alaaye's stool fell vacant on August 30, 2021, following the death of Oba Theophilus Adegoke Ogunbiyi of the Bejide Ruling House.
