Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, has come under fire for removing social media tweets condemning the assassination of Deborah Samuel by Islamic extremists in her Sokoto State school.
After publishing a criticism of the assassination, Muslim candidate Atiku Abubakar went back to erase it after being intimidated by Muslim fundamentalists who warned they would not vote for him in the 2023 election.
Atiku has not yet received the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential nomination, but he appears confident that he will, and he does not appear willing to sacrifice the support of his radical Muslim compatriots because of Deborah's death. As a result, he was apparently forced to retract his original denunciation of the student's horrible murder by Islamists who lit her on fire and watched her burn to death.
HURIWA said Atiku has a bad track record of not intervening when Christians are slaughtered by his relatives, but he intends to attract Christian support when he pursues the opposition PDP's presidential nomination this month.
HURIWA blasted the former Vice President as someone who lacks values and is continuously terrified of Islamic extremists, establishing the image of him as a Moslem bigot, according to a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, and made available to DAILY POST on Friday.
"Atiku Abubakar denied ever criticising the assassination of Deborah, a young Christian girl in Sokoto," HURIWA added.
Let us ask Atiku Abubakar: if your daughter is the victim of this barbaric murder, will you prefer the so-called votes of lawless Islamists or will you stand by the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees a fair trial to all accused persons in Section 36(5) and Section 6, which delegated judicial power to courts of competent jurisdiction?
"We ask President Muhammadu Buhari: Will you maintain conspiratorial silence as if you are not on this planet with us if one of your daughters is treated like a chicken?"
