The police in Sokoto State claimed on Thursday that they had detained two suspects in the killing and lynching of a Nigerian female student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, according to gazettenews.
Sanusi Abubakar, the state police spokesman, claimed in a statement that the mob responsible for the killing of Deborah Samuel, who was lynched for blasphemy against Mohammed, overcame campus security before capturing her.
In the midst of the turmoil, the institution's security outpost was also set ablaze, forcing the school's administration to seal the doors and send the students home.
However, the police commissioner of Sokoto State, Kamaldeen Okunlola, has urged the public to be calm and carry on with their daily activities as the situation has been stabilised.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have gone to their various social media platforms to denounce the mob's conduct and appeal for all Nigerians to live in peace.
