Breaking: 2023: Atiku Emerges PDP Presidential Flag Bearer For The 2023 General Elections.

Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, has won the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential nomination for the 2023 general elections.

Atiku received 371 votes to defeat Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, who received 237 votes.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki received 70, 38, 20 and 14 votes, respectively, from Akwa Ibom Governor Emmanuel Udom, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Anyim Pius Anyim.

Tareila Diana and Sam Ohuabunwa, past president of the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN), each won one vote.

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine, Charles Ugwu, and Chikwendu Kalu all received zero votes, while 12 ballots were thrown out.

This is the second time Atiku has been nominated as the PDP's presidential standard bearer. He is running for president for the sixth time.

In the 2019 general elections, the former vice president, who originally ran for President in 1993 on the platform of the now-defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), was the opposition party's candidate.
