Bandits set free a lecturer from Kaduna but take his daughter and driver hostage.

Dr. Rahmatu Abarshi, former Head of Department, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Kaduna Polytechnic, was released by bandits on Tuesday night.

Her daughter, Ameerah, and her driver, on the other hand, are still with the robbers.

The lecturer, her daughter, and her driver were seized by bandits while returning from Mariri community in the Lere Local Government Area of the State, according to the DAILY POST on April 24, 2022.

She was on her way to deliver clothing to IDPs as part of her "Barkindo Rahama Initiative" when they were ambushed by robbers who demanded N100 million in ransom.

Dr. Abarshi's Barkindo Rahama Initiative's Admin Officer, Abdallah Isma'il Abdallah, confirmed the lecturer's release on Tuesday night but did not specify the amount of ransom paid.

He said she was brought to an unnamed hospital for a medical checkup after regaining her freedom on Tuesday evening.

"Her daughter and the driver are still in custody," he claimed.
