The Independent National Electoral Commission is making headway in its efforts to eliminate rigging, according to Prof. Abdulganiy Raji, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun.
Prof Raji addressed on Wednesday in Osogbo at The Electoral Institute's Pre-election Survey Methodology Workshop for field agents in preparation for the Osun 2022 governorship election.
Despite its recent accomplishments, he stated that the Commission still has a lot of work to do to ensure that election procedures are free of fraud.
He then invited workshop participants to engage in critical discussion that would result in policies and methods to combat the threat.
"It is my pleasure to remind you that the Commission has made tremendous progress in drastically reducing some election and electoral malpractices such as rigging, overcrowding of ballot boxes, overbloating of ballot registers, special treatment of voters and election officials, distortion or doctoring of results, disappearance or destruction of ballot boxes, and so on," he said.
