A suspect has been arrested following a mass shooting in downtown Chicago late Thursday night that left two people dead and eight others injured.
It happened around 10:40 p.m. outside a McDonald's a few blocks from the city's Magnificent Mile shopping district, according to police. During the incident, one of the eatery's windows was damaged.
A suspect has been apprehended, according to CBS Chicago, and a pistol has been seized at the site.
The identities and ages of the victims, as well as the conditions of the injured and specifics about the incident, were not immediately released by authorities. An investigation has begun.
One witness told CBS Chicago, "I literally just got home, I stepped into my apartment's lobby, and I saw two girls running in." "They appeared to be traumatised."
The killing was the latest in a string of violent shootings in Chicago in recent years, and it occurred after a fatal shooting in downtown Chicago's Millennium Park last weekend that killed a teen and caused the city to enforce a youth curfew.
