Primaries to nominate candidates for State Houses of Assembly and the House of Representatives will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP's National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Nature, stated on Saturday that the Senatorial Primary will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, to elect Senatorial candidates.
"For the avoidance of doubt, the State Houses of Assembly Primaries to elect our State House of Assembly candidates will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022, the House of Representatives Primaries to elect our House of Representatives candidates will also take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022, and the Senatorial Primary to elect our Senatorial candidates will take place on Monday, May 23, 2022," the statement read in part.
"In the event of unforeseen logistical circumstances, the Senatorial Primary may be extended to Tuesday, May 24, 2022," according to the National Working Committee.
"The NWC also clarifies that, under Section 84(8) of the Electoral Act of 2022, the three (3) AD-HOC Delegates per ward, elected at Ward Congresses, and one (1) National Delegate per Local Government, elected at Local Government Area Congresses, are qualified and eligible to vote as delegates in the upcoming Primaries and National Convention of our great Party."
It also urged all hopefuls, key stakeholders, leaders, and the organization's throngs of members to pay attention.
