Hassan Shamidozhi, the abducted traditional ruler of Bukpe village in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, has been given 24 hours to earn N6 million or risk his murder, according to his kidnappers.
Earlier this month, the traditional ruler was kidnapped and a ransom of N20 million was placed on his head.
Following talks, the ransom was reduced to N6 million, which was a significant reduction.
According to a source from the traditional ruler's family, the abductors called the family on the phone and threatened to kill the traditional ruler if the family did not raise the N6 million within the next 24 hours, according to Dailypost.
"It was only this morning (Wednesday) about 10 a.m. that they contacted and threatened to kill the chief if the family failed to pay N6 million within 24 hours," he explained.
According to the source, security agents were enlisted to assist in the rescue of the supreme ruler.
The spokeswoman for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, did not answer to a phone call seeking confirmation of the information.
