While fleeing military operations in the Lake Chad region, the ISWAP components alleged to have been in control of the area recently were said to have abandoned their canoes carrying food supplies for their foot soldiers as a result of heavy fire from Nigerian troops during an operation in the region.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Colonel Muhammad Dolé, Chief of Military Public Information at the FMM Headquarters in N'Djamena, Chad, the Sector 1 Amphibious Task Force (Cameroon) has increased river patrols and assaults against TBHs in the general area of Tchol and Chaka, among other things.
"During these operations, some suspected terrorist logisticians escaped and abandoned kayaks stocked with bags of food (cereals) and other goods destined for the criminals when they saw the advancing patrol teams," according to the statement.
As troops proceeded to search the waterways in an effort to cut off probable escape and supply routes utilised by the terrorists, all objects were confiscated and burned, according to the statement.
