Ifeanyi Njoku, a young guy from Lagos State, has been arrested for reportedly killing his girlfriend, Precious Okeke, 24, in an estate in Badore, in the Ajah region of Lagos State.
The live-in lovers stayed on Oke Street, and Njoku was accused of murdering his girlfriend for ritual reasons.
A native doctor who was aiding the suspect was also said to have urged him to have sex with Okeke's body.
The culprit committed the odd deed for six days before being apprehended after his neighbours alerted the estate management to the stink emitting from his unit.
According to a witness, Punch:
"About six days ago, the young man killed his fiancée, confessing that he wanted to use her for money rituals. He said that he was instructed to have sex with his girlfriend's corpse for seven days, but that he was caught on the sixth day. It's meant to be the seventh day today (Monday).
"The scent of the dead had been bothering the compound's neighbours and other occupants." So they phoned the estate chairman for assistance in confirming what was going on in the apartment, and they discovered the girl's body while searching the apartment.
"The teenager was apprehended and transferred to the Lamgbasa Police Station, where he confessed to killing his girlfriend six days ago during questioning."
"We discovered that the boy promised N6 million to solve the issue; we also discovered that he had his village girlfriend with him and that they had just moved into the estate."
Benjamin Hundeyin, a state police spokesman, confirmed the occurrence, adding that the deceased and the suspect were lovers.
According to Hundeyin,
"Ifeanyi Njoku and Mbam Atunmufor, both 36, have been arrested as suspects. They've been handed up to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Yaba, where they'll be investigated further. "It was Njoku who rented the place."
