A number of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Osimhen, a 23-year-old forward who has scored 16 goals in 28 appearances for Napoli this season in Serie A, according to reports in Italy.
Considering that the Nigeria international only joined Napoli in 2020, after completing a £67million transfer from Lille, he still has more than three years left on his current contract and may command a high asking price from any possible suitors in the summer transfer season.
In accordance with the Italian magazine Corriere dello Sport, United have already begun conversations with Osimhen's representative Roberto Calenda, who the publication describes as "the bridge that unites Naples and Manchester."
Calenda is believed to be in charge of negotiations over his client's potential transfer to Old Trafford, with the agent even convening a'summit' with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, and Osimhen himself to discuss the possibility of a transfer.
According to reports, Newcastle United had an £84million bid turned down in January, but they are set to make another effort this summer, with Arsenal also interested in a move.
Napoli anticipates a bidding war for their star striker to take place at the end of the season, with a starting price of £84million being offered.
