Manchester United has named Ajax manager Erik ten Hag as their new manager, succeeding interim Ralf Rangnick, who will leave at the end of the season.
The 52-year-old inked a three-year deal with a 12-month option. "I'm not a fan of the "Achieving success at Manchester United is a significant honour for me.
"I am motivated to build a team capable of delivering the success the supporters deserve.
I can assure our fans of my total devotion and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United.
"We would have loved to have Erik longer," said Ajax CEO and former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, "but he is heading to one of the world's top clubs."
Ten Hag told Ajax: "I'm glad it's been finalised and announced. Clarity is vital."
United's football director John Murtough: "Erik has established himself as one of Europe's most exciting and successful coaches, famous for his team's attractive, offensive play and dedication to youngsters.
"We were quite impressed with Erik's long-term vision for rebuilding Manchester United to the level we want them to compete at.
"We wish Erik luck in his final season at Ajax and look forward to welcoming him to Manchester United this summer."
Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. Three titles followed in nine years - FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League - with the club currently in danger of missing out on Champions League participation next season.
Rangnick, who will take up a consultancy job at Old Trafford this summer, said following United's 4-0 thrashing of Liverpool on Tuesday that the side may require up to ten new players.
