Breaking: Gabriel Jesus discusses his decision to join Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus, the Manchester City striker, has claimed he would not be sidetracked by rumours over his future, despite a link to Arsenal.

Arsenal had previously been rumoured to have made an attempt to Manchester City to sign Jesus.

The Gunners are on the lookout for a new top striker following the January sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona, and have already started negotiations with representatives for Jesus regarding a possible summer move to Emirates.

Jesus has battled for playing time this season, making just 17 Premier League starts and one Champions League start for Pep Guardiola's team thus far.

However, after scoring four goals in Man City's 5-1 Premier League victory over Watford at the weekend, Jesus is convinced that his sole focus is on finishing the season strongly, beginning with Tuesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid.

Jesus was cited by Metro UK as stating in response to reports connecting him to a summer move to Arsenal: "This is not the time to think about it."

"You anticipate me saying this, and it is true. This is not the time to contemplate this; this is the season's best moment.

"I want to enjoy it and remain focused on my teammates as we battle for the Premier League title." I've already won three times with my teammates, so I understand how it feels and I want to do it again.

"On Tuesday, we face Real Madrid, a formidable opponent. That is my objective."
