A device planted in the Rigasa village, a few kilometres from the train station, was exploded once more by the police.
In a statement, ASP Mohammed Jalige, the State Command's spokesman, said the Kaduna Police Command had successfully diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna city on Thursday, March 31, 2022.
"The IED was put in the vicinity by yet to be recognised personnel," the statement continued. Residents in the area noticed it around 07:50 a.m. and immediately reported it to the police."
He stated the Command's Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) sprung into action quickly and successfully dispersed the IED with no casualties or property damage.
DCP Maiyaki M Baba, the Acting Commissioner of Police, praised the inhabitants of the region for their alertness and for reporting the occurrence so quickly, and promised them that the command would always prioritise public safety.
According to the statement, he asked the general public to always report suspicious movement or persons in the region, promising them that their information would be treated in strict confidence.
Normalcy had been restored in the neighbourhood, according to him, and residents were going about their daily routines.
