No security agency will buy petroleum products in jerry cans without a letter from their superior officials, according to the newly established Task Force on Petroleum Products in Zamfara State.
Barrister Abdirashid Haruna, the head of the Zamfara State Task Force on Petroleum Products, revealed this to journalists in Gusau, the state capital.
After receiving complaints about the excesses of some security officers who are using their uniforms to smuggle petroleum products, the taskforce chairman announced that such instructions had been issued to all filling stations in Gusau.
"Such behaviour would not be tolerated by the Task Force." Residents are having difficulty obtaining fuel and other petroleum supplies for home and lawful use, but personnel in uniform are frustrating them," he stated.
He promised that his committee would work even harder to guarantee that petroleum products delivered to Zamfara State were distributed and sold at the agreed-upon price.
