(VIDEO):NOVELTY MATCH: Olusegun Obasanjo On Fire As He Scores Brace As OOPL Team Defreat Ogun State Govt Team

One of the activities marking former President Olusegun Obasanjo's 85th birthday was the staging of a novelty football match on Friday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State, in commemoration of the former president's birthday.

President Obasanjo served as captain of the OOPL team, which competed against the Ogun State Government team, which was led by Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, on the day of the celebration.

As a result of this, Team Ogun was defeated by Obasanjo, who scored two of the four goals that were scored during the course of the game to defeat them.

After the game, Obasanjo expressed gratitude to God for his physical fitness despite his advanced age in a press conference.

In his speech, the former President urged all people, especially the elderly, to practise what he called the DREMS (Diet, Rest, Exercise, Medical Examination, and Social Interactions) principles.

These, he claimed, were the secrets to his agility and fitness, despite the fact that he was an octogenarian.

"As part of the events commemorating the 85th Birthday of His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, I captained the Ogun State 5-a-side team against the OOPL, which was captained by Baba himself," the Ogun Deputy Governor said.

'It was a goal-fest, with Baba himself scoring several goals.'

"May Almighty keep us all healthy and happy so that we can celebrate with Baba again next year. "
