1. Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari departed Nigeria for London, United Kingdom, for medical examinations. Buhari told Nigerians that the government will be administered in his absence by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. He is anticipated to make his way back to the country within the following two weeks.

2. Hezekiah Aman Francis, his wife, Josephine Hezekiah, and their five-month-old son, Hanniel Hezekiah, have been kidnapped from their apartment in Abuja's Abattoir new expansion. While the man's wife and child were released after walking a few metres away from their home, the husband remains abducted.


3. According to reports, two people were killed and eight others were injured in a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps' (FRSC) spokesperson, verified the incident in Abeokuta on Sunday.

4. Two suspected kidnappers have been killed and their bodies set on fire in Plateau State's Anpam community. The accused kidnappers were assassinated by a group of local adolescents. Around 13 houses belonging to local ranchers were also set on fire by enraged youngsters following the killing of the suspected kidnappers.


5. Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has accused some Nigerians of manipulating religion to conceal the truth. He spoke against the backdrop of the controversy that surrounded the implementation of the Islamic banking system, often known as non-interest banking.

6. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, will today arraign suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, before an Abuja Federal High Court for alleged drug trafficking involvement.

7. Ukraine and Russia will hold talks on Monday to negotiate a cease-fire and safe passage for civilian evacuations, a Ukraine official said, following the suspension of the evacuation of the southeastern city of Mariupol. According to the Ukrainian president's administration, Russia continued shelling the area Saturday in breach of a cease-fire.


8. A second attempt to evacuate civilians from a besieged city in southern Ukraine failed Sunday amid renewed Russian shelling, as Russian President Vladimir Putin shifted blame for the war back to Ukraine, saying Moscow's invasion could be halted "only if Kyiv halts hostilities."

9. On Sunday, there was uncertainty regarding the All Progressives Congress's zonal congresses scheduled for Saturday, as the party had not yet begun preparations. It was learned that state chapters of the party had yet to receive any order from the national leadership, despite the fact that the congresses were less than a week away.

10. Tensions erupted in Ogbe-Ani, Ubulu-Uku community, in Delta State's Aniocha South Local Government Area, following the rejection of a corpse without eyes, tongue, or other organs. Mrs Comfort Biakpara, who was in her early 50s, was reportedly brought to her family compound in Ubulu-Uku by her husband, who was from the State's Burutu Local Government Area.
