Russian oligarchs' villas, houses, and yachts worth more than $150 million are seized by Italian police.

As Russia's war against Ukraine continues, Italian police have seized villas, houses, and yachts worth 143 million euros (more than $150 million USD) from five Russian oligarchs over ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Special Unit of the Financial Police, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Imperia and the Aeronaval Operational Department of Genoa, executed asset-freezing orders against multiple Russian oligarchs on Friday, according to a police statement released on Saturday, March 5.

The following people were subjected to a freeze order:

1. Alexey Alexandrovits Mordaschov: the yacht Lady M, which is docked in Imperia and is valued at around 65 million euros (roughly $71 million).

2.Gennady Nikolayevich Timchenko: the yacht Lena, which is docked in San Remo and is valued at around 50 million euros (approximately $55 million).

3. Alisher Usmanov: real estate portfolio in Arzachena's Golfo del Pevero, valued at around 17 million euros ($18 million).

4. Vladimir Roudolfovitch Soloviev: properties in the province of Como valued at around 8 million euros (approximately $8.7 million).

5. Oleg Savchenko: "Villa Lazzareschi," a seventeenth-century villa in the province of Lucca, valued at around 3 million euros ($3.3 million).

These actions follow the European Union Council's imposition of sanctions on a number of high-profile individuals and entities in response to Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.
