At least four people killed and 186 animals rescued as police raids a militants' camp in Katsina, Nigeria.

Following an attack on certain communities in Katsina State, police officers engaged four militants in a gunfight.

The AK-47-wielding robbers invaded the villages on motorbikes, firing randomly into the air and robbing several livestock from Tugu Gari and Yammama villages in Matazu and Malumfashi LGAs, respectively.

However, in a sting operation, the police raided and burned down three terrorist camps in Danmusa LGA's Yelwa and Hakinbiri Villages, where the hoodlums hibernate.

They also burned down the hideaway of a bandit kingpin named Na-Iraqi in Safana LGA, recovering two functioning motorcycles, 131 rustled cows, and 55 sheep from the terrorists.

Three of the terrorists slain, according to SP Gambo, were stopped by DPO Kankara and his squad on the way out of Rugu woodland at Kanyar-Nogora, Kukar-Sheka village in Kankara LGA, where they engaged them in a gunfight.

When the Dutsima police area commander and his squad repelled an attack on Tugu Gari village in Matazu LGA, they also killed one terrorist and rescued 32 cows and 23 sheep after blocking the hoodlums at Yantumaki forest.

CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, the state's police commissioner, praised the efforts of police operatives in repelling terrorists, and urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security forces in the state's fight against terrorism.
