Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: State government has ordered the evacuation of stranded passengers.

Passengers on the stranded train from Abuja to Kaduna were evacuated by security forces, officials from the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and members of the Nigerian Red Cross, according to the Kaduna State government on Tuesday morning.

In a statement, the State Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, explained that the injured passengers and those who died had been transported to hospitals for immediate treatment and care.

It was also revealed by the Commissioner that the victims had been taken to the hospital from various difficult-to-reach locations in forests and rocky terrain in Audujongom, a town off the Kaduna-Abuja Road.

He stressed that the Kaduna State Government was still in contact with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in order to obtain a list of passengers from the manifest in order to track them more efficiently.

According to the statement, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who expressed gratitude to all those who assisted in the evacuation, appealed to the hospitals to provide prompt and thorough care to the victims.

Furthermore, it was explained in this statement, the Governor also directed the Ministry of Health to communicate with hospitals because the government will be covering the costs of their treatment.

The statement stated that, as of the time of this update, search and rescue operations were still underway in the affected area.
