Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has pledged to defeat Russian forces in the ongoing conflict.
According to Zelenskiy, Ukraine's forces still control the country's capital city of Kyiv, despite reports to the contrary.
"Please stop those who are lying or trying to lie to you or to us," the president said at a press conference. We must put an end to this conflict. As humans, we can live in peace on a global scale.
"Please continue, our military, national guard, national police, territorial defence, special service, Ukrainian nationals." We will triumph. Ukraine is to be praised."
According to Zelenskiy, Ukraine's forces are successfully defending the country against Russian attacks.
"We've successfully repelled the enemy's attacks." We are aware that we are defending our homeland and our children's future. Our army has control of Kyiv and the key areas.
"The occupiers wanted to establish a puppet government in our capital." They were unsuccessful. There was a real brawl going on in our streets.
"The enemy was employing all of its weapons, including artillery, paratroopers, and other special forces." They're bombing residential areas and attempting to destroy energy infrastructure, and everyone should pitch in to help us put an end to the occupation," he added.
