The House of Representatives tested the electronic voting system on Wednesday in preparation for the constitutional amendment vote.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamia, stated that the lower chamber of the legislative Assembly would ensure the machine's effectiveness before voting day.
The purpose of the test was to minimise any confusion during voting on extremely contentious subjects, as reading the Constitution was normally done clause by clause, with no influence from the presiding officer.
According to the DAILY POST, the voting procedure in the constitutional amendment is normally done using electronic voting through a screen posted in full view of members.
The voting is typically broadcast live on major television networks and social media sites.
The top and lower legislative chambers are now working on the change to the Constitution.
