Get out of my office-Ferguson Tells Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney, a former Manchester United striker, has described how Sir Alex Ferguson, the club's previous manager, marched him out of his office.

Rooney claimed he went to speak with the great Scottish manager about the club's plans when Cristiano Ronaldo was permitted to join Real Madrid at the same time that Carlos Tavez left Old Trafford.

The former England striker said that he was the last high-profile player left at Old Trafford at the time, and that he was being offered a £200,000-a-week contract.

Instead of accepting the agreement, the current Derby County manager remembers being more interested in learning about the plans to bring in more quantity players in order to push for silverware.

After a falling out with Ferguson over the club's vision, the former Everton striker famously begged the Manchester United board to allow him leave the club in 2010.

During the manager's final year at the Theatre of Dreams, the striker and the Scot had another falling out.

Rooney was dissatisfied when Manchester United let Ronaldo and Tevez depart the club in 2009, replacing them with Antonio Valencia, Michael Owen, and Gabriel Obertan.

According to Metro, Rooney claimed, "They were offering me a deal for £200,000 a week, so it would have been fairly easy for me to say, 'five years, £200,000 a week... let me sign it now."

"However, I wanted to be successful on the field - that is more important to me."

"We sold [Carlos] Tevez, then [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and I was the last high-profile player left."

"I went into Alex Ferguson's office and asked him, 'What are your plans here?' We've brought in two unproven young English players at the moment.' 'Get out of my office,' I recall Alex Ferguson saying.
