Idris Adam Damari, the former sole administrator of Dogon Dawa Development Area in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was kidnapped and slain by suspected bandits.
Mallam Yunusa Idris, a resident of the community, told the DAILY POST in Kaduna on Tuesday that bandits assaulted the Damari community on Sunday night, shooting indiscriminately and injuring Damari in the process.
He claimed that a large number of people were kidnapped since inhabitants were unsure which way to flee.
While the sporadic shooting continued, he told our journalist that the bandits organised themselves and stationed in advantageous places to catch anyone who ran in their direction.
He added that the bandits had yet to contact the abducted people's families or make any ransom demands, and that Adam Damari was buried according to Islamic customs.
He further revealed that bandits in the Birnin Gwari area took over Damari, Randagi, and Kakangi villages and struck with impunity.
When approached about the attacks, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kaduna, ASP Jalige Mohammed, said he would respond as soon as he had all the data.
