Gabaski, Egypt's goalkeeper, has revealed what he said to Mohamed Salah moments before saving Sadio Mane's early penalty in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Final.
As Mane went up from 12 yards in the seventh minute, Salah was spotted conversing with Gabaski.
Salah gave his colleague an indication about what to expect after the two forwards had been teammates for four and a half years.
Mane's strong effort to Gabaski's right was saved as a result.
After 120 minutes of play, the game ended goalless, and Mane made no mistake in converting the game-winning penalty kick to give Senegal their first AFCON title.
"Salah informed me: 'Mane will shoot to the right side, he is coming now because he knows what I am saying," Gabaski told MBC Egypt.
"Mane informed me he was going to shoot the ball on the left side, but Salah said, 'We'll see... let's make him punish you.' Salah responded in a wise and correct manner."
Gabaski was not fooled by Mane's ruse, and Salah was swiftly vindicated as the penalty was saved to the goalkeeper's right, giving Egypt an early advantage in the final.
