World's most valuable player: Vinicius Jr. beat out Phil Foden and Erling Haaland to be named the best player in the world.

On the list, he is ahead of Manchester City playmaker Phil Foden (£127 million) and Erling Haaland (£119 million).

Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid has been rated the world's most valuable player by a prominent research firm.

CIES Football Observatory determines a player's value by combining on-field performance with criteria such as club, age, and remaining contract time.

Vinicius, a Brazilian winger, came up on top in a report released at the start of 2022. According to CIES' formula, the 21-year-old is worth a stunning £138.5 million.

On the list, he is ahead of Manchester City playmaker Phil Foden (£127 million) and Erling Haaland (£119 million).

Mason Greenwood (£111.75 million) is fourth, ahead of teenagers Florian Wirtz (£111 million) and Jude Bellingham (108.5 million), both of whom play in the Bundesliga.

Ruben Dias (£100.5m) of Manchester City and Frenkie de Jong (£96m) of Barcelona, both 24, are the oldest players in the top ten, which also includes Alphonso Davies and Golden Boy 2021 winner Pedri.

Kylian Mbappe, who will leave Paris Saint-Germain in June after his contract expires, is well down the list, priced at just £60 million, behind Timo Werner, Gabriel Jesus, and Diogo Jota. Mohamed Salah, whose worth is £55 million, is much lower.
