Under the auspices of Northern Leaders of Thought in Kaduna, stakeholders from the northern portion of the county have warned Nigerians against choosing politicians like President Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming 2023 general elections.
During a keynote lecture at a meeting held at the Arewa House Kaduna on Saturday, the group, led by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), issued the warning through Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed of the Northern Elders Forum.
He asked eligible voters in the north to make sure they are properly registered in order to vote President Buhari out of office in 2023.
He warned that if Buhari becomes Nigeria's next president, the lives of northerners would be jeopardised, and urged voters not to sell their ballots.
"Many think that another set of leaders will bring little value to their life," he stated, asking Northerners not to repeat the "error of 2015."
"We say channel your rage into a positive force by electing better individuals to government this time." There are politicians who will continue where the current administration left off, buying votes and gaining power while disgruntled voters refuse to vote.
As a result, the most important thing a Northerner can do for himself and his community in 2023 is to register and vote. Do not cast another four or eight years of ballots in a society where your dignity and life are of little importance."
