Imo police station is attacked by gunmen, and Inspector is shot.

The Imo State Police Command has verified a hoodlum attack on the Mgbidi Divisional Police Headquarters in the state, which resulted in the death of an inspector.

Michael Abattam, the State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the attack, said it happened on Friday when hoodlums stormed the station with sophisticated weaponry.

According to the PPRO, officers at the station engaged the hoodlums in a gunfight, and the assailants were repulsed almost immediately.

He stated that the command then initiated an active manhunt for the hoodlums with the goal of apprehending them because they may be able to flee due to the extensive damage done to them.

"The officers engaged the hoodlums in a pistol fight," according to the statement.

"In the process, the attackers were repressed almost quickly, having suffered a massive defeat, with a number of them getting varying degrees of bullet wounds, they retreated and fled in the Toyota Hilux vehicle they had arrived in." And were given a vigorous chase by police officers.

However, one police officer was killed in the attack, while another received a slight bullet wound to his hand."
