I don't regret giving up my spouse and children for Nollywood – Shaffy Bello

Shaffy Bello, a Nollywood actress, has spoken up about how she sacrificed her marriage to her husband and her relationship with her children for her job.

Shaffy revealed in an interview with Chude Jideonwo that she had to abandon her children and spouse in order to pursue her career in Nigeria.

She described the long-distance relationship as a great sacrifice that cost her marriage, as it harmed the bond and resulted in a divorce.
The actress, on the other hand, stated that she had no regrets about leaving her children and spouse in America to pursue her career in Nigeria.

"I came back to Nigeria to stretch my wings because I felt like I was pregnant and couldn't have a child because my wings were sort of locked in and I was boxed in," she explained.

"I needed more, my spirit needed more, I craved more." I had no idea what the cost would be, but I had to make the sacrifice. I paid the price for not being able to communicate with my children at the time. Before I left them, my daughter was 13 and my son was 11 years old.
But before that, I abandoned my career to raise my children; I sacrificed a lot for them to be nurtured, only to leave them in their early adolescence with their father.

"I knew I wanted this work; going back would be too much of a sacrifice; I wouldn't be myself, and I would dislike my husband at some point, so I had to focus on what I wanted."

Shaffy went on to say that she divorced her husband five years ago and has remained in Nigeria since he permitted her to.

When asked how she dealt with negative comments about her decision, the 50-year-old actress responded she doesn't give a damn what other people think.

"I judged myself, but I'm grateful to God that he did it this way for me because it's better for me." "I don't give a damn what other people think of me; I'm more concerned about my children and close family," Shaffy explained.
