Covid19: New Year's Day 2022, 2 deaths, 536 infections In Nigeria

COVID-19 infections continue to rise in Nigeria, with two more deaths and 536 infections reported on Saturday across 12 states and the FCT (FCT).

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this on Sunday morning.

By December 31, 2021, the country had 242,341 infections and 3,031 deaths.

The new cases bring Nigeria's infection count to 242,877, with 3,301 deaths.

214,778 Nigerians have been successfully treated and discharged, while 25,014 remain untreated as of December 31, 2021.

Rivers State reported 198 recoveries for December 31, 2021 (122) and January 1, 2022 (123). (68).

Breakdown
The NCDC statistics showed that Lagos State has 259 cases, followed by Rivers State in the South-South with 90 cases, of which 58 are backlogged till December 31, 2021.

Oyo State had 46 instances, Edo had 43, and Kaduna had 29.

The fct reported 25, Cross River 12, Nasarawa 10 and Osun State 6.

While Gombe, Kano, and Ogun states each had five incidents, Jigawa only had one.

The NCDC said that Bauchi, Ekiti, Ondo and Plateau states had no cases on Saturday.
