Buhari criticises governors for their ties with local governments and shares his views on state police.

President Muhammadu Buhari has accused state governors of having strained relations with local governments, claiming that the third tier of government is not receiving constitutional entitlements from the governors.

The president claimed in an exclusive interview with Channels Television, which will air at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, that there is perpetual conflict between governors and local governments.

Additionally, President Buhari stated that establishing a state police force is not an option for the country, claiming that governors will abuse their position.

"State police is not an option," he stated. Determine the connection between local government and governors. Are the third tiers of government receiving what they are constitutionally entitled to? Are they grasping the concept?

"Let local government officials tell you the reality about the conflict between local governments and the governor."

On the country's current security situation, President Buhari called for increased engagement to resolve farmer-herder confrontations that have wreaked havoc in several regions of the country.

"The function of traditional rulers must not be weakened, because they know who is who in their territories, even within families, let alone individuals," he said.
