After a loan move from Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho has been introduced as the new Aston Villa player.

Philippe Coutinho, a former Liverpool midfielder, has been announced as the new Aston Villa player after his loan move from Barcelona was confirmed.

The Brazilian's loan move to Villa Park was announced last week, with the Midlands club holding the option to sign the former Liverpool star on a permanent basis at the end of the current season.

The 29-year-old was officially introduced as a Villa player late Tuesday night and will wear the No.23 shirt till the conclusion of the season.

Last week, Sportsmail learned that Villa will have to spend around £33 million to recruit Coutinho on a permanent basis this summer from Barcelona, who will still fund half of his wages this season, with the other half paid by the Premier League club.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard and Coutinho were teammates at Liverpool from 2013 to 2015.

Coutinho claimed that his former teammate Gerrard was instrumental in him moving to Birmingham, and he believes he can learn from Villa's new manager this season.

'It's a pleasure to be here, it's a great club,' Coutinho said, according to the Villa official website. 'I spoke with the manager, Stevie, a lot, and he told me about the club and his aspirations.' I'm delighted to be here, and I'm looking forward to enjoying my football.'

'I've known Stevie for quite some time. I had fun playing with him and learned a lot from him. I have a great deal of respect for him. I'm hoping to give it my all here. Without a doubt,

I'm excited to meet the fans and play on the field. I'm aware of this, and I believe they're relieved that I'm here. I want to make amends on the field and enjoy my football.

'I'm excited to get out on the field.' I always want to give my all when it comes to my career. That is what I strive for every day. 'I'm hoping for a wonderful rest of the season here.

'He is a terrific footballer with an extremely excellent CV filled with plenty of elite honours,' added Gerrard. I am thrilled that we were able to get him on board, and I look forward to working with him.
