A housemaid strangled ex-Edo state governor Lucky Igbinedion's mother and stole her jewels and money.

Lucky Igbinedion, a former Edo state governor, is mourning the loss of his mother, Madam Oredola Igbinedion, who passed away on December 2.

The 85-year-old grandmother was allegedly strangled at her home in Ugbor, GRA, Benin-City, the capital of the state, by her housemaid, according to reports. In addition, it was reported that the maid from Cross River state, who allegedly suffocated the victim, stole her jewelry and money from her house after she allegedly killed her.

Security forces have been contacted in an effort to locate the fugitive, according to a source close to the family.

Chief Gabriel Igbinedion's first wife, Maria Oredola, was known as the Esama of Benin Kingdom. After her husband, Chief Igbinedion, and children former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, Bright Igbinedion, Charles Igbinedion, and Mabel Amadin passed away, she was left with a large family that includes numerous grandchildren.

The Octogenarian's family has also publicized the details of his burial.

The ceremony of songs for the deceased will be place on Thursday, December 9, 2021, according to the burial program. Funeral services for her will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church beside Water Resources Off Ugbor Road, in Benin, on Friday, December 10th.
