Chibok schoolgirls who were freed from Boko Haram have been admitted to law school, while others are studying at the American University of Nigeria.

Large numbers Chibok schoolgirls who were rescued have matriculated to start their first year of university studies.

The Chibok girls were among about 270 schoolgirls seized by Boko Haram militants from their school in Chibok, Borno State, in 2014.

The annual Convocation and Pledge Ceremony of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) was recently held, with 57 Chibok schoolgirls in attendance.

"At Africa's premier development university, we aspire to help build a better and more peaceful Nigeria," one of the girls stated.

On Friday, AUN's Executive Director of Communications, Daniel Okereke, issued a statement saying, "These 57 Chibok pupils have been enrolled in the AUN New Foundation School (NFS) program, which will help them prepare for university and life.

"They were sent to AUN on a scholarship from the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, and were mentored through their personal healing, educational growth, and progressive reintegration into the society.
 
"Several of them already have expressed an interest in law, natural and environmental sciences, accounting, entrepreneurship, business administration, communication, multimedia design, and economics, among other fields.

"President Margee Ensign, who had recently returned from a university residency in the United States, charged them with finding solutions to the world's issues without fear or hesitation.
