The Congress of Local Government and Local Council Development Area (CONFERENCE 57) has referred to rumours of a rival congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state as a "exercise in futility."
Kolade Alabi, Chairman of CONFERENCE 57, encouraged Lagosians to disregard the claims, claiming that the presence of delegates from the APC Headquarters and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) put to rest the "shenanigans that were reported to have taken place in other centres."
However according him, all 57 local council Chairmen and their executive members, as well as state executive members and members of the national and state assemblies, were present at the Onikan major congress center. He praised APC members for organizing a calm conference.
He, on the other hand, praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for going about to make sure things ran well. The excellent planning and execution of the congress activities, according to Alabi, who is also the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), is a testament to the high standard with which Lagos State always strives to leave a lasting impression and legacies for others to emulate.he thanked Cornelius Ojelabi, the new APC Lagos Chapter Chairman, and his staff on their success.
Alabi, who is also the Chairman of the Bariga Council, praised the Adebayo Adelabu-led Lagos State Congress Committee for their outstanding performance.the Assembly 57 expressed trust in Ojelabi's capacity to lead the party to greater heights and pledged to back the new administration.
