Numerous inmates at the federal detention center in Kabba, Kogi State's Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, have reportedly escaped.
The detainees, numbering in the hundreds, were alleged to have escaped after gunmen stormed the jail on the Kabba-Lokoja route.
It was learned that the military troops stationed on the route were killed before the attack by the assailants, after which the attack on the prison officers was initiated.Following that, the assailants released the prisoners.
As per bendelnews, the early morning downpour on Monday facilitated their escape. The structure that housed the detainees was apparently flooded.
Notwithstanding, approximately 100 of the prisoners were re-arrested, with an indeterminate number of them voluntarily returning.
