Military Speaks On Major Kidnapped From NDA By Bandits: We're Waiting For Panel, Board Of Inquiry.

High military orders have refused to provide details of the condition of Major Christopher Datong which was kidnapped when gunmen entered the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) at Kaduna last week.

When asked about the major at the Defense Headquarters, Abuja, on Thursday, Brig Gen. Benyd Onyeuko, Director of Acting Media Defense Operations, said the military would make Nigeria stay posted.

Rumors were prevalent last week that the soldier was killed but one of his family members told Saharareporters that he was still alive.

The last gunmen invaded the Afaka barracks from the academy around 1am, killing two soldiers.

They also kidnapped Datong and then called the military authority to demand a N200 million ransom to release him.

Gunmen, who wears a military camouflage, is said to have defeated the guard and headed to the institution's officer.

There are sustainable military operations to ensure that the officer is safe. And I cannot leak anything else that may jopardise the operation that is taking place because whatever I say now might endanger the operational actions taken by the military To save the officer.

"He didn't die, you know we are in the era of fake news and most Nigerians now write things in the press without verification or confirmation. The officer lives and we look forward to a successful operation to save him.
