The House of Representatives rejected the motion that was trying to declare Bauchi state as an oil-producing state in the country.
Motion, sponsored by the rep. Yakubu Abdullahi (APC-Bauchi), was rejected by parliamentarians at the plenary on Thursday.
It will recalled that in February 2019 President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated Spud-in Kolmani River II drilling wells in Bauchi countries.
The President further directs the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to expand the exploration of the six basins in the country.
"Furthermore, it is known fact that every community from which oil locations is found and or produced has the right to some additional income which is special attention to the environment, infrastructure and its health impacts.
"Successfully from the needs of Bauchi to begin to benefit from 13 percent derivation, being the host community, incentives provided by law.
Oil exploration in Bauchi State began in 2018 and until today it was still ongoing, but there were no official reports of whether the exercise was successful or not and Nigerians, especially the Bauchi states, who would benefit from 13 percent derivations Anxiously waiting to witness economic benefits.
"The mandate of the Petroleum Resources Committee (Hulu) to invite Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation to provide a comprehensive representative at the level of work in oil exploration which is currently carried out in the area," said the movement.
