bullion van attack in Idi Ape area of Ibadan, two police men dead.

Armed robbers ambushed a bullion truck in Ibadan's Idi Ape neighbourhood Friday afternoon, killing two police officers and wounding two others before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of money.

The cash van, which was claimed to be coming from the Iwo Road section of the city, was attacked by seven masked criminals.

According to an eyewitness, they shot the van open and removed money from it.

The bullion vehicle had bullet marks on it.

The onslaught, which lasted roughly 20 minutes, spread alarm across the neighbourhood.

Residents fled, and motorists abandoned their vehicles and sought shelter, according to reports.

Later, police officers and members of the state security network known as the Amotekun Corps arrived on the scene.

Ngozi Onadeko, the Commissioner of Police, said she couldn't confirm the number of officers killed in the incident.

"As you can see, the Amotekun, the cops, and everyone else is here working together to get the people involved and get to the bottom of what's going on." "It was a coordinated attack," she said. "When we get the details, I'll give you more information."

One of the robbers was also shot dead, according to Onadeko, and his body was hauled away by his men.
